FAQ
For renters
What happens if the machine goes offline?
Heartbeats stop, so verified time stops growing and the provider stops earning. Close the lease and every unproven minute is refunded.
Do I pay for the time the image is downloading?
No. Heartbeats only start once your container is running.
Can I get my money back if I don't use all my hours?
Yes. Close the lease at any time and the unused balance returns to your wallet in the same transaction.
Do I need an account?
No. Your Solana wallet is your account. There's no sign-up, email or card.
Which wallets work?
Any wallet that supports Solana message signing through the Wallet Standard, including Phantom, Solflare and Backpack.
Is my data private?
Your workload runs on the provider's hardware, and they could in principle inspect it. Treat a rented GPU like any shared cloud machine. See Security.
What if the GPU is already in use?
You'll get a "busy" message when you try to launch. Close your lease for a full refund and pick another listing.
Can I pay in $KILN?
Yes. Every GPU is priced in USD; choose $KILN at checkout and the page quotes exactly how much $KILN covers the deposit. It's converted to USDC and your lease opens in the same transaction.
Can I extend a lease?
Yes, the program supports top_up at the lease's original price, up to 90 days in total. A button for it is coming to the Rent page.
For providers
What hardware do I need?
An NVIDIA GPU with a working driver, Docker with the NVIDIA Container Toolkit, and ports 8443 and 30000–30099 reachable from the internet. See Providing a GPU.
When do I get paid?
Your node settles proven time every hour, in USDC, into the wallet that owns the listing, minus the 2.5% protocol fee.
Do I need my main wallet on the GPU machine?
No. The machine only holds a heartbeat key, which can't move your funds.
Do I get paid in $KILN if the renter pays in $KILN?
No. You're always paid in USDC. A renter's $KILN is converted to USDC before it reaches escrow, so your earnings are stable.
Can renters damage my machine?
Containers run without privileged access and with some capabilities removed, but they do get network access and your GPU. Keep the machine isolated from anything sensitive.
About $KILN
Where can I get $KILN?
At launch, on pump.fun. Only trust the contract address published on the token page.
Is there a team allocation or presale?
pump.fun launches have no presale: tokens are sold on a public bonding curve. Any team holdings will be published on the Transparency page.
What are the fees used for?
Buying back and burning $KILN. The 2.5% fee on GPU rentals and the trading fees $KILN earns on pump.fun are used to buy $KILN on the open market and burn it. See Buyback and burn.
